Thank you!
Overwhelmingly HR, Recruiters and even hiring managers feel it is their job to DISCOUNT candidates, rather than to rule them in, based on skills and experience. They feel that makes THEM morally superior to any lowly job seeker, and of course that makes them incredibly valuable to their employer......They WILL find that one thing they think you don't have, and they WILL rule you out...and feel so proud about it.
Raj will you upload again?
thank you so much for sharing this SOP , really helpful.

Hi Raj, are you still at UCL? I need you advice and guidance if poss. I’m applying for an internal post 😮
I watched your video religiously for the past few months. I did everything u said, literally!!!Thank you thank you thank you I just got my conditional offer from UCL 😭😭😭
Which program?
An excellent resource, so grateful for these Raj!
What should you wear to the interview
I want to ask about UCL internship specifically. As a Civil Engineer graduate what is the best internship there?
How much gsk pay for 3 months internship??
Hi, thanks for this detailed video. I have a query about how is the written ability of an applicant perceived by the personal statements? Like in the first two paragraphs in the sample, 'build on' has been used twice, should the word repetitions be paid that much attention?
Hello Raj, thank you for such a useful video! Can I please ask a question regarding STAR method- more specifically, do you recommend its use in job applications, especially when one has to demonstrate skills like communication, team work, self motivation etc? Or should the examples be used more in the interview itself? Thank you, great work!
I got rejected from UCl for Chem Engineering I applied in November but only found out couple of days ago UCl rejected me it's fine I got an offer from Loughborough but it would have been nice to have UCl as well what annoys me is the most is that they tell me now

This is an interesting video because I just got rejected from ucl

@@bevamuchie we’re brothers from an another mother man🥺🫂
@@bevamuchie Why did you get rejected? I got rejected because of poor GCSE performance I only got one 5 in English Language and 8 in Maths 8 in English Lit and 9 in Bio and chem and 7 in Physics I think that’s unfair man🥺
@@shuushyoujokeman9069 Bro I got rejected from UCl just a couple of days ago 😂😂

No I don't think so bec u shouldnt mention the name of the university, since u will be applying to 5 different ones
Is this service available to study abroad students as well? I did one last term so I am technically a study abroad alumnus. Thank you! :)

Currently 3rd year student, going to apply for Business Analytics in UCL for masters. Thank you for the insightful video.
I found it so trippy when you said my name! 😂
It's a cool name, Sachin!! :-) Raj
Thank you! This has been extremely helpful! What is the best way to wrap everything up in the closing paragraph?
thats what i was wondering too.
This was sooo good 😌 will be incorporating these tips into my SOP for UCL 🥰
I just wanted to say what a brilliant channel this is. Raj, your optimism is contagious! I am watching these videos before the interview - and it makes me less nervous :) Thank you and UCL for such a brilliant resource (best university ever!!!)
Hi Olga, it's SO great to hear this... thank you so much. I'm sending you positive vibes for the interview and I wish you the very best of luck! :-))
Thanks Raj! Such a helpful video! p.s. where is your jumper from? It's so cool!
Aww thanks Lily! I got it from Idioma... it's one of my favourite jumpers and I totally recommend it :-D
Watching these after getting so many rejections wondering why I didn't see it earlier :'(
Aww, Ana, I hope this helped :-) I'm sure the offers will start rolling in. Good luck!
Thank you!
Hello! Thank you for the video🙂 I have an interview for my course at ucl in few days... any tips on how to answer without being too nervous? Thank you in advance ✨
Thanks my luv xx
Hi, most of your videos are geared towards industry/corporate jobs. Since I am mostly applying for PhDs, it is a little hard to apply these suggestions to PhD interviews.
Love this, thank you Raj Sidhu! I've really enjoyed your series of UCL videos and am glad to have been part of such a fab uni with fab resources :)
"You are very much enough." I love this!
Really enjoying these videos, thank you! Please do more on approaching common questions in interviews - like what are your weaknesses, describe a time you handled a conflict (if you're not really sure you've had to handle a massive conflict) etc.
Hi Kayla - thanks! I love the handling conflict question... that's definitely going on my videos-to-make list! Let me know if there are any others :-) P.S I made a video on weaknesses here... ua-cam.com/video/mlAsJgc561M/v-deo.html
Inspiring and informative as usual Mr Sidhu! Loving the outdoor vibes too, a refreshing video, in terms of both the content and the air (I assume).
So nice of you, Mr H! Ha yes... I definitely needed the fresh air ... the thought of recording indoors while the sun was out, made it a no-brainer :-D Raj
Hi, my questions are: 1-I saw on the position description that interns in Global Data will be assigned to specific teams within the department. What are the different teams and what will the assigning process look like? (I couldn't find the teams online) 2- Is there anything that leaves you with hesitancy about choosing me for this position? ( to get feedback and clarify my strengths/motivations) 3- What does a typical week at the company look like? (to learn about meetings and social events during the week) Thank you!
Selin - I really like both these questions, and particularly the first. It shows you're super interested in the specifics and want to learn more about what you might be doing. Nice!
Sorry.
Brilliant advice for a common question. Thanks Raj!
My pleasure, Alejandro, and thank you for the very kind comment - glad it helps :-) Raj
Maybe you could have also interviewed some Humanities and Social Sciences majors.
You are of course right, Napoleon; that is very much my aim for my next lot of interviews :-) Cheers, Raj
Thanks, Raj!
Thank you for the information ✨
It's a pleasure, Miss Bliss. Let me know if you've any more questions :-) Raj
I was curious about whether after completing a master's degree from UCL and without a PhD are there jobs options available in the field of psychology? Thankyou 🙂
@@Fairybutte777 Sure there are! There are the more obvious ones like becoming an assistant psychologist with the NHS - normally the way to get training as a practitioner, but if becoming a practitioner isn't your thing, then the fields open to you are extremely broad... anything from User Experience design to Communication and much much more. Have you checked out the LinkedIn UCL alumni database and filtered for degrees in psychology (I see 11,030 Psychology UCL grads in this dataset)? This could give you a big-data feel for your question... especially looking at the profiles of those with MScs in Psychology but not PhDs. This is the link... let me know what you think/find, Raj :-) www.linkedin.com/school/university-college-london/people
Hi Raj! I found your videos through the school website, and they have been really inspiring and helpful! I just have one question about something I saw in some other article: do I really have to explain a gap year on my CV in the cover letter? I took one between my bachelor and my master just to clear my thoughts. I did work a little as a freelancer/intern during that time, but not for the whole year. Thank you very much!
Hi Alice - good question! You definitely don't have to (nor should you) explain the gap year on either your cover letter or your CV... both are really introductory marketing-type documents to get you the interview - so emphasise skills relevant to the job description. If they're curious about that year, they'll ask you at interview so you'll want to think of a way to describe that year - clearing your thoughts is perfectly fine of course and I'd also add what you learnt over the course of that year - again emphasising skill - so the focus is always on how they benefit. I hope that makes sense, Alice? Definitely shout if not :-) Raj
Fantastic!
Do we use the same concept when writing a personal statement for a job/ placement ?
Yes, absolutely Darren... always start with what attracts you to them (gives them a reason to get invested in you) and then build a connection to yourself.... to show how you fit in their context. Then fully flesh out maybe the top 2 skills they mention. A personal statement, much like a cover letter is about satisfying them you'd be a good person to interview, so it's a marketing document rather than a full account of yourself. The best of luck Darren :-) Raj
Thank you Raj, this is very enlightening! I didn't realize the huge amount of adverts we come across per day!
Ahh, thanks for saying this, Frances. It really surprised me too... particularly how much work our subconscious minds must be doing in filtering and interpreting these large numbers of adverts - and what effect they must be having. It certainly made me think of ways I could expose myself to fewer adverts! ... perhaps a worthwhile effort but not very easy. All the very best, Frances :-) Raj
Thank you for the tips.. hope it goes well🤞🙌
Thanks Miss Start dust... and you too :-)) Raj
Excellent, Raj :)
Thanks, Hilary :-) Raj
